Salvia officinalis
Produced in Bosnia, USA, Bulgaria, Turkey, Malta, France and Germany. Traditionally, it was reputed to provoke urine, arrest bleeding, heal wounds, and dressing ulcers and sores. Clinical studies reveal it's strong anti-spasmodic effects on oral bacteria and reproductive ailments and has the ability to imitate the hormone oestrogen.
SCENT- Top-middle note
Fresh, strong, warm-herbaceous, camphoraceous- distilled from the dried leaves.
Anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-spasmodic, cholagogue, choleretic, diuretic, emmenagogue, expectorant, stimulant.
Genital herpes, hair loss, leucorrhoea, mature skin, menstrual irregularities, peri-menopause, poly-arthritis, viral meningitis, respiratory infections.
Topical application - massage, compression, bath, ointment, liniment, skin care;
Inhalation - direct inhalation, diffusion, vaporisation.
Vaporiser oil
Sage oil is recommended for general nervous debility and blends well with bergamot, clary sage and geranium.
Switch on vaporiser to the maximum, drop a few drops of Sage oil alone or with blended essence according to the area size and intensity, and allow the oil to evaporate to saturate the environment. Ensure all windows and doors are closed.
Contra indicated in pregnancy and epilepsy. Sage oil should be used with great caution and recommended for aromatherapist use only. Perform patch and/or scent test before use. For any skin allergic reactions, run tap water or cool compress on affected areas until redness subsided. Store essential oil in a dark, cool and dry place and avoid sunlight and keep children out of reach.
Essential oils are not safe to apply on the skin undiluted nor to consume any small amounts which can cause significant poisoning.
