Geranium
Pelargoniums graveolens
Produced by Reunion, China, Egypt and Morocco. Traditionally used as a fragrance component and medicinal use to treat diarrhoea and dysentery. Clinical studies reported it exhibit anti-fungal and antibacterial activity with stimulating effects on the lymphatic, integumentary, nervous and reproductive system.
Scent - Middle note
Leafy-rosy, herbaceous regulate the mind - extracted from the leaves and branches.
Analgesic, anti-bactericidal, anti-fungal, astringent, cicatrisant, cytophylactic, diuetic, haemostatic.
Eczema, haemorrhoid, impetigo(sores), G6PD, normal to oily skin, phlebitis (blood clot), wounds.
Topical application - massage, compression, bath, ointment, skin care;
Inhalation - direct inhalation, diffusion, vaporisation.
Vaporiser oil
Geranium has an excellent regulating effect to relieve stress, nervous tension and depression. Floral with a hint of rose, this oil uniquely overpowering and emits a totally different aroma when blended with bergamot, clary sage, frankincense, grapefruit, jasmine and neroli.
Switch on vaporiser to the maximum, drop a few drops of Geranium oil alone or with blended essence according to the area size and intensity, and allow the oil to evaporate to saturate the environment. Ensure all windows and doors are closed.
General regarded as safe. Perform patch and/or scent test before use. For any skin allergic reactions, run tap water or cool compress on affected areas until redness subsided. Store essential oil in a dark, cool and dry place and avoid sunlight and keep children out of reach.
Essential oils are not safe to apply on the skin undiluted nor to consume any small amounts which can cause significant poisoning.
